ABOUT US
We are a CIPC-registered not-for-profit organisation, based in Cape Town. Our approach to alleviating homelessness is based on compassion, community involvement, and long-term impact. We mobilise and equip churches and other FBOs with a replicable model that helps them engage meaningfully with people experiencing homelessness—offering support, structure, and pathways to restoration. Through training, resources, and collaboration, we aim to strengthen local responses and inspire hope where it’s needed most.

Our Origins
The Next-Step Foundation has its origins at Common Ground Church in Sea Point, Cape Town, whose motto is to “Be like Jesus. Become like Jesus. Do what Jesus would do.” Inspired by Jesus, our Foundation has a two-fold purpose. One is to share the Good News of salvation. Second is to help the needy in practical and sustainable ways. We do so by encouraging and supporting participating churches and faith-based organisations.
How we Assist
We inspire, train, mentor and support churches and other FBOs financially and practically with the implementation of tailored personal assistance to homeless individuals. For example:
- Stephen has lived on the streets of Cape Town for many years. After an assessment, by one of our member churches, we supported Stephen by reuniting him with his family and paying for his travel expenses to return home.
- Charity lives at one of the shelters in Cape Town. She dreams of one day having her own accommodation. She was desperate for employment. We liaised with one of our NGO partners who kindly provided a job for Charity.
